How to prevent cataracts, the natural way.
Cataracts are one of the inevitable parts of life as we age, it is estimated that half of all Americans who reach the ripe old age of 80 will have some form of treatment to get rid of a cataract.
Cataracts from when the lens of the eye is compromised, this happens naturally to us all as we age, years of use means the lens becomes less sharp than it once was.
The human eye is an incredibly delicate and intricate mechanism, and the lens is very thin. Being made up of proteins and water, over time the proteins can bond together, making the milky layer we associate with cataracts.

The following remedy has been used for hundreds of years and the original recipe is thought to come from Native American medicine.
Ingredients
- Boiling water – 4 cups
- Raspberry Leaves – 4 teaspoons
- Rose petals – 1 cup
Instructions
Boil the water in a pan and add the ingredients while the water is boiling. Take the pan off the heat and let the mixture simmer for a few minutes, and the water will absorb the nutrients from the petals during this time. Leave to cool and then use the preparation as an eye wash to cleanse the eyes with daily.
In addition to this, ways to avoid developing a cataract can be used through your diet. Mane sure you eat a diet rich in vitamins E and C, good examples are cabbage, blackberries and blueberries. Also try and avoid dairy and saturated fat as much as possible as this is thought to contribute to cataract formation.
